About Vania 

Born and raised in Long Beach, CA, Vania King grew up with tennis playing siblings to non tennis playing parents. Her brother, Phillip, was a 2-time 18 and Under Hard Court Nationals Champion and reached a career high ATP ranking of 270, before attending Duke University. Her sister, Ivana, was a top 50 nationally ranked junior and played #1 at Princeton, while her sister Mindy competed at the University of Pennsylvania.

Before turning professional, Vania had committed to Stanford University, however reached a ranking of 70 before choosing to turn pro.

She spent most of her 15 year professional career in the Top 100 in singles and Top 30 in doubles and had wins over champions like Ashleigh Barty, Simona Halep, Marion Bartoli, Flavia Pennetta, Monica Puig, and Samantha Stosur. She reached career high rankings of #50 in singles and #3 in doubles, alongside winning one WTA singles title and 15 WTA doubles titles.

In 2010, she won the Wimbledon and US Open Women's Doubles Championships with her partner Yaroslava Shvedova, becoming the only Asian-American female to win a women's doubles Grand Slam. She also reached the finals of the 2010 Roland Garros Mixed Doubles Championships and the 2011 US Open Women’s Doubles Championships.

Vania now works with the WTA Foundation, as well as supports two non-profit organizations: Serving Up Hope and the Asian American Pacific Islander Tennis Association. From 2021 to 2024, she was an Elite Athlete Representative on the USTA National Board of Directors. She has consulted for elite athletes, is an experienced public speaker, and is PTR and USPTA certified.
